This was not just a fun video to shoot, but it was also quite productive! Currently where our RV is situated we can’t run electric to it in order to keep the batteries topped off. We decided to install 200 watts of solar power and document the process. Disclaimer, we are by no means experts when it comes to most if any of our installations. If you have any questions feel free to contact us and we will try our best to answer!
My best advice is to for sure look at the steps we took, but there is more than one way to install these systems on your RV or house. Each system you have to look at how much solar you need and whether or not you actually have the room to install them where you need to. We stuck with 200 watts because we primarily will be sticking to campgrounds and RV parks when taking out the trailer.
However, if we do go full-time someday we will want to boost ours to least 400-500 watts to allow for some boondocking experiences. Our two flooded marine batteries would also need to be upgraded or expanded for more amp hours.
Make sure you do all your research before you dive into a project like this. There are kits out there you can buy to make it a bit simpler, we just decided to find all the best deals we could (at the time) and build our own system. Wish you the best in your install!
