Howdy Folks!
This is technically the first review of a campground as full-time RVers! We were so lucky to come across this campground as it was a great start into the full-timing world. Charlarose Lake & Campground was so incredibly quiet and peaceful. I think the loudest sounds we heard were the frogs and insects chirping all around the pond at night time. We could just sit for hours listening to the sounds of nature while glancing up at the stars.
If you want some great views of the lake, getting full hookups towards the front of the park seems to be the best option. We stayed at this location for a week and only had neighbors right next to us consistently during the weekend (as in most campgrounds). This allowed for us to enjoy the lake even more and just kind of drift off and enjoy our stay at Charlarose Lake & Campground.
The sunrises and sunsets were really spectacular as well around this park. I didn’t get a photo of EVERY single one, but pretty close. 🙂
This park had a small camping store towards the entrance where you could get RV items as well as ice if you need it. If you ask nicely they may even let you ship amazon boxes there (assuming you stay long enough to get that fantastic prime 2-day shipping).
Although its a tad hard to see in this sunset picture, there is a nice little basketball court here for all you that appreciate some hoops. I think I was out here about 3 nights while we stayed and enjoyed every bit of it haha.
As stated in the video at the top of the blog post, this park has other amenities such as propane fill-up, 2 separate playgrounds for the kids, fishing, boats to take out, dump station, and a decent (slightly dated) bath house as well.
I don’t usually do ‘star’ ratings but I would probably give this a 4.5/5 star just because it had everything we needed there. Nothing super fancy, but nice peace and quiet.
PLACES WE EXPLORED WHILE VISITING
Due to the temperatures still being in the 80s and 90s, we didn’t really hit up any intense hiking trails while visiting. However, we did visit two awesome state parks within a half hour’s drive (Turkey Run State Park, and Shades State Park). Both of the parks offer awesome hiking trails from easy to rugged trails.
Here are a couple links to the videos we made while exploring those two state parks:
CELL SIGNAL:
If you are like us and full-time RV or you may need to have yourself some consistent communication for whatever reason. At this particular park you could probably survive off both AT&T and Verizon Signal. As I mentioned in the video, they both performed okay on their own, but using our WeBoost we got strong reliable signal throughout our stay. If you want to see how we installed our WeBoost, you can check that out in our blog post –> WeBoost Install <–.
