Hiking Jordan Pond Path in Acadia National Park
Want to check out Jordan Pond Path? You came to the right spot! This hike took place on our 2nd day on Mt. Desert Island kind of smack dab in the middle of Acadia National Park.
This particular trail is dog friendly (like all the trails we hiked at Acadia) and is also quite the relaxing stroll around Jordan Pond. There are some rough patches to get through, but we had no issues taking Blaze along with us through this trail.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
Right near the trail head of Jordan’s Pond Path there is no doubt in one’s mind why this is one of the most photographed areas of Acadia National Park. The crystal clear pond alone is a magnificent sight, but then add in the surrounding mountains, the various orange colored rocks protruding from the pond’s shores…and I can’t help but be mesmerized by this perfect balance of nature.
ROUTE WE TOOK
We first started this trail by taking the loop in a counter-clockwise direction. Deanna read somewhere online that this was the best views, but after hiking the trail…either direction is going to be fantastic haha. This is a fantastic place to take your pup with a few exceptions.
There are a couple spots (if you were to head clockwise instead you’d hit it sooner) where the trail does get a little tight walking across wooden planks. There are also a few rocky spots as well where you’d want a dog that is comfortable hiking and spanning some small gaps between small boulders.
As with most trails at Acadia National Park, if you want the trail to yourself, get there as early as you can. We tried to get to most of the trails we hiked by about 8-8:30am est. I know for some that may be a bit early, especially if its your vacation time, but trust me…its worth having the trails to yourselves. 🙂
EASY TRAIL
While hiking around the trail there are a couple really cool wooden bridges you get to cross. They seemed fairly new and the trail was under some renovations (As of May 2018), but still easily accessible.
This is a 3.2 mile loop that pretty much sums up what Acadia has to offer besides the ocean views. 🙂 It was such a relaxing stroll that we probably would have made a 2nd loop if the crowds hadn’t started to gather at that time.
CHECK OUT THAT VIEW
On the north end of the Jordan Pond Path/Trail we headed across a second bridge near the “Bubbles” or basically twin mountain peaks. The “Bubbles” are pretty much visible from the entire trail and certainly never got old viewing them. Late May seemed to be a perfect time to head to Acadia even near Memorial Day weekend.
There were some crowds that Monday, however we never had any issues with heavy traffic around Park Loop Road. Granted we are comparing the traffic to places like Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Park where it was EXTREMELY packed haha.
WOODEN PATHS
Although the wooden planks weren’t extremely favorable by Blaze (he prefers dirt over wobbly boards), it was really nice how they carved the path through the beautiful forest. The path-maker responsible for this trail really did their research and made this trail quite the memorable experience.
