Recently we had the opportunity to head over to Hocking Hills State Park in the state of Ohio. We were getting together with a bunch of college alumni friends for the weekend and just so happened to be within 10 minutes of this park! Needless to say we were quite surprised what southeastern Ohio had to offer.
I must admit, I did happen to comb the area for state parks before we headed out to the Midwest. So I glanced at a few pictures online and was definitely sold on getting some hiking in during the weekend as well. After spending most of the morning at the park I can attest that the pictures do not lie. This park is a must see if you are in the area and want to get out into nature.
The most beautiful sections that we hiked were actually right near the visitor center of the park… which was convenient. A lot of my friends are now starting their own families and had some little ones along with them. All the kids seemed to have a blast looking at the different waterfalls and rock features throughout the park. Deanna took the really cool picture above with all the exposed tree roots!
Deanna and I don’t have any sort of rating system put together yet for the different trails we have hiked, but we really enjoyed hiking through this park. We saw quite a few dogs along the trail so that definitely gives this trail a better rating for us! Hopefully next time we will be able to take Blaze along with us.
