Campground Review of Tiki RV Park in St. Ignace Michigan
Howdy Folks!
Today I want to show you all around Tiki RV Park in the town of St. Ignace Michigan. I’m not sure if you all know St. Ignace all that well, but if you ever head up to Mackinac Island you surely have heard of it!
Tiki RV Park pretty much has three parts to it. All the spots near the front of the entrance are the full-hookup spots where most of the big rigs seemed to head to stay. Then behind them are the rest of the RV spots. I believe they were all partial hook-ups (where we stayed). Behind all the RVs hidden in the back was a really nice wooded area full of awesome tent camping sites!
As mentioned in the video review, the spots can be a tad tight. Luckily we backed in on the drivers side which makes it a lot easier (at least for me) to see where I am backing up. However, there was a 5th wheel that tried to park next to us and they had a heck of a time squeezing in their spot. The sites were pretty level from side to side, but wasn’t so much from front to back (at least with ours).
The RV Park has a lot of useful amenities for full-timers such as a laundry facility, a really clean and private shower house (individual shower rooms), and the folks working there seemed very friendly.
THINGS TO DO
Mackinac Island
If you are in the area, odds are you are there for Mackinac Island….or just the fudge. We had a ton of fun exploring just a tad of what the island had to offer. Video above, for the individual blog post –> Click Here <–.
If you can’t handle a bunch of tourists being bunched around you on the island, I highly recommend checking out the trails around Mackinac Island State Park. It was a totally different story once getting out on some of those paths…didn’t hear much of anything…besides some oncoming thunderstorms in the distance.
Castle Rock
Castle Rock was the best $2 we spent while visiting the area (Blaze got in free!!).
*$1 a person to climb the nearly 200 stairs to the top
No blog post associated with this neat destination, but definitely check out the video above! It also shows you a little tour of downtown St. Ignace towards the end of the video.
You do get a lot of interstate noise (unavoidable that close to the road), but the views make up for everything. You can see for miles away in the distance and gotta love that amazing Lake Huron!
Fudge!
Just before you turn onto the road that leads to Tiki RV Park, there is a cool looking lighthouse shaped building. Folks, that place has some AWESOME fudge. We ended up going for the mint chocolate chip fudge…but there were tons of choices. If you want more options, just drive down the road…or head to Mackinac Island. You will find everything you need. 🙂
Just Explore
It never hurts just to hop in the vehicle and drive around and explore. This is such a ridiculously touristy town that you will find something to do around every bend you see. Sometimes I prefer this method over looking on the GPS because the GPS can spoil the fun of noticing something for the first time. Just get out there and explore, its worth it. 🙂
INTERNET/CELL SERVICE
Sorry, we don’t have any pretty picture of our Weboost for this part of the post. This was another campsite where you really could use either Verizon or AT&T if you are a Digital Nomad on the road. AT&T definitely was the stronger performer, but I still streamed things on my phone just fine using our Verizon data as well. I think they actually did have wireless internet there, but we never did ask for the password (I don’t know why, lazy I guess). So that might be an option, but can’t really tell you how strong the signal is.
