After we bought the RV, we struggled with the decision whether or not to take the super comfortable couch out and replace it with a workstation or not. As you can tell by the title of the video we went ahead and did it. The reason we went for it was due to the lack of counter-space and giving us an option to work full-time from the RV if the opportunity ever presented itself to us.
This was a fairly challenging project for the both of us as neither of us had really build furniture before. We had a good 3-4 plans drawn up before we finally decided what we wanted to do. At first I wanted to still leave the option to convert the space into a bed if we had guests, but considering our lack of expertise we decided to keep it a bit more simple.
We first started building the frame out of cheap 2x4s and went on from there. Deanna and I worked quite a few weekends preparing the wood that would actually be seen outside of the frame. Sanding, staining, finishing was a lot more work than we were expecting when we first took on the project. However, it was amazingly rewarding experience once we had the chance to assembly it all and see our plans come to fruition. Plus, we learned a heck of a lot via mistakes and just taking on a new challenge!
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. It certainly isn’t a perfect wood project, but it is our wood project. We are proud of it and turns out it is actually quite useful! 🙂 Hope you all have fun with your own projects!
Adventure On!
