Alamosa KOA Journey RV Park Review
This Alamosa KOA Journey RV Park was a tad on the expensive side, but the amenities and views that you get totally make up for it in my opinion. Definitely make sure you have that KOA membership handy just in case you are staying here long enough to make it worth it!
Amenities at Alamosa KOA Journey RV Park:
Just like most KOAs, Alamosa KOA Journey was no different as far as packing in tons of amenities. Once arriving at Alamosa KOA you’ll notice the little play area up towards the road. There is a pool, giant connect 4, a little basketball court, horse shoes, and a playground near the main office.
Within the main office itself is a camp store just in case you happened to forget any crucial camping items at home before making your way to the park. There is also a laundry facility and a bathhouse/showers in the same building.
There are a mix of full/partial-hookups throughout this park. We stayed at a site in the back (with a great view of Mt Blanca) that had 50amp full-hookups. It was pretty helpful as we had both little space heaters going one evening once it got cold.
Discounts:
Since it is part of the KOA corporate owned system, the KOA does take the 10% KOA discount and you can accrue points while staying at the KOA as well.
Noise Level:
As close as Alamosa KOA Journey is close to the main road passing through to Alamosa, it honestly wasn’t all that noisy. There were a couple campers that had their music up a little too loud, but beyond that, nothing noisy about the campground itself.
Dog Friendly at Alamosa KOA Journey?
You betcha! There were quite a few dogs being walked around while we were staying at this KOA for a week. There is a dog park located closer to the main office, but as always…Blaze wasn’t a huge fan of anything but sniffing in it.
Big Rig Friendly?
We saw both some decent sized Class As and 5th wheels parking at this RV park during our stay. The back row where we were parked seemed to have the longest spots as there was still quite a bit of room in front and behind our truck/5th wheel combo.
Cell Signal and Wifi:
Both AT&T and Verizon weren’t SUPER strong in this area, but they were strong enough in order for us to work. As I mentioned in the video at the top of this post, Verizon was a bit stronger but not by much.
Things to Do in the Area:
We were lucky enough to get out adventuring a couple times while staying at Alamosa KOA Journey.
I’d say the most obvious and biggest attraction to the area is Great Sand Dunes National Park.
However, there are also a couple other side adventures we hit up at both Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge and Zapata Falls. There are a ton of other cool places in the area and you can find some fliers at the front desk in the main office.
